Prostitutas

Prostitutas’ was Rosa Gauditano’s first project as a documentary photographer. At the time Rosa still lived with her parents in Sao Paulo and had to keep her project – documenting the lives of young prostitutes in a Sao Paulo brothel – a secret from her parents. Initially, Rosa’s request to photograph the women was met with suspicion. Gaining their trust took a long time. In 1978 Centro de la Imagen – Mexico acquired the photos. Subsequently, the photos were included in ‘Hecho en Latinamerica’’, the first photobook dedicated to Latin America.
