Ukraine

In January 2022 – one month before the beginning of the Russian invasion – Jonathan Moore travelled to Ukraine with the idea of photographing what life was like for people living under the weight of an impending war.

He spent the weeks before the invasion in Mariupol. After fleeing to Lviv he volunteered as a photographer for the Ukrainian Red Cross where he  documented the humanitarian situation in the city and on the border. In March he joined the Ukrainian Red Cross’ emergency response team whilst the city was under siege.
