Starting in a Philadelphia induction centre Ed Eckstein’s photo essay follows a group of recruits through their entire training. The candid photographs offer a compelling historical and social commentary. The year was 1972.  Shortly after these images were taken, the draft officially ended and the all-volunteer army began.
